About Tattoo Removal Tattoo Removal is a gradual process that depends largely on your tattoo’s location, depth, density and ink colors. For example, black ink is the easiest for our lasers to target, whereas colored ink can be a bit more complicated. Six to eight appointments are typically needed to remove the average tattoo, although the exact number will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Most unwanted pigment will significantly lighten or clear in 2-3 sessions. Some people say that the procedure feels similar to getting a tattoo, but for a much shorter duration. A cooling anesthetic can also be provided to alleviate discomfort. PicoSecond laser tattoo removal has few side effects, which normally include some temporary skin whitening and a sunburn-like sensation. Most people are able to resume their normal activities immediately following treatment without experiencing any downtime. When you come in for your free consultation, one of our specialists will walk you through the process and help determine the predicted number of treatments your tattoo is expected to take to fade or remove. We will provide specific aftercare instructions at your tattoo removal session. How does Tattoo Removal Work? Laser Tattoo Removal works by targeting pigment colors in the skin’s dermis, which lies between your outer layer of skin (epidermis) and the tissue beneath. The tattoo pigments absorb the laser’s beam and fragment. Your body then naturally absorbs these fragments and eliminates them. This process is called photothermolysis. The full spectrum of colored tattoo inks, including notoriously difficult to remove blue and green inks, can be treated with PicoSecond laser. PicoSecond laser treatments are safe and will not permanently damage your skin. About Picosecond Laser

How do I prepare for my laser tattoo removal session? Prior to a laser tattoo removal treatment, you’ll want to avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks beforehand. You may be instructed to discontinue taking aspirin and ibuprofen, since they may cause you to bruise after your treatment.
Am I a good candidate for laser tattoo removal? Laser tattoo removal can remove most tattoos safely and effectively. In general, older tattoos that have darker pigments tend to be easier to remove than newer ones that have fluorescent pigments. Patients who don’t smoke and follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen tend to achieve the best results.
Will laser tattoo removal leave a scar? It is very rare for patients to scar from laser tattoo removal treatments. But if a tattoo already features pre-existing scarring, that will remain.
Will I experience any side effects? You may experience minor bleeding, redness, swelling and blistering for several hours or days following treatment. Over the next several weeks, you may notice the treated area flaking, peeling and scabbing. Handle the treatment site gently. While the site is healing, you should avoid sun exposure and public swimming pools. Tell your medical professional if any side effects bother you and are not subsiding.
